    Hi,
Lately I have purchased few signed Cameos, I will post them one by one. The below is smallest cameo set in silver metal. I am not sure what it depicts either, would appreciate your take on it. It looks to me one of the Muses with Cupid. Can we put an age to it as well?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Simona

I seem to remember @Bronwen saying those acid-etched signatures are newer (ie: 20th century)... and many are unknown artists...?

That is right, however I mainly publish them because @Bronwen keeps a record of the signatures and cameos, this may come handy at some later date, fingers cross, when she will publish a book :)
I am also intrested to learn about the carving, please feel free to express opinions.

The imagery is a little scrambled, as more modern cameo scenes tend to be. This is kind of a cross between Cupid and Erato, Muse of Erotic Poetry, and Cupid and his mother Venus. The lyre belongs to the Muse; the nudity belongs to the goddess.

Precisely so, as is the case here. Maybe someone else will see something here that makes more phonetic sense than I do.

Thank you. I will file this one against future enlightenment. You just never know when the missing bit of info will come along.

Thank you for, once again, enlighten me. I can’t make a name of the letters, perhaps someone venture to make up a name.
Now, moving on to the next one, keeping the best till last.

The three Graces, in golden metal frame, large cameo, signed. Again, I can’t make up a name, if anyone recognise the signature, please enlighten us.

Think it could be Carnesecchi. The legibility of his signature is variable.

And now the last one, just arrived…. Our “Lover” Lamant.
@Bronwen what is the depiction about? Is there a trial with Eros?
    Everyone seems very unsettled…

Your Lamant is as weird as mine:

    Lamant 1848 Mercury Cupid 1A adj.jpg

The primary figure on yours appears to be Urania, Muse of Astronomy, or so she's always called, but her usual attributes relate to the study of geometry, literally earth-measuring, hence the globe.

    Urania mine hardstone crop.JPG

I don't see Cupid; a billowing cloak is giving the impression of wings. Looks more like a mother bringing her young child for instruction. The winged male figure with a ledger under his arm, attention caught by something off to his left...? Maybe just an allegorical figure for learning/knowledge.

Both yours & mine seem like scenes Lamant created with his own imagination. I have never otherwise seen either of these tableaux.
