Cheap Piece?

That mark is one of the notorious "Victoria Ware" marks - new trying to look old.

 

Why I don't know; even the old stuff doesn't sell for much. The fakes might be vintage themselves by now, and once upon a time the originals were worth faking?

 

they were not convincing as reproductions from their onset but there has always been a niche in the marketplace for the blue and white wares as decorative - a lot of people don't care that they are not old - that is a LOT of bang for the buck for those larger new pieces thus they sell pretty easily at a reasonable price point...

 

Yup, modern repro. They’re quite expensive in giftware shops.

 

I had several trash cans about a foot high in a slightly differently pattern that I bought to hold dried hydrangeas.

I bought them new but I recall they were on sale so I paid less than the sticker. I have one sitting in my garage waiting to go to the charity shop that still has stickers. I think I purchased it in the 1990s.
