Hello, I have inherited a set of 4 harp/lyre back chairs made by Hibriten Chair Company in Lenoir, NC. One of the 4 is an armchair and the seats are needlepoint. They definitely have some wear - I would say they're probably in fair condition. Could anyone give me an idea of how much, if anything, these might be worth? Pictures are attached. Thanks so much. 20230410_180610 copy.jpg 20230410_180740 copy.jpg 20230402_090753 copy.jpg 20230402_090544 copy.jpg

Looking at the price results on liveauctioneers, if I was estimated them for auction, they would probably bring $50 for the set - possibly less. The only chairs I saw by Hibriten that performed were the Asian inspired set of 6 for $200 and a Mid Century Modern set of 6 for $200 as well. Both were walnut.

If you look in the thrift store furniture thread, you will see a set of 6 needlepoint seated chairs from about the same era that were a hard sell at even $30.00 for the set. Just not in fashion right now. You might do a bit better in or near a large city.

Picture them around a white Parsons table.

Thanks so much for the information - it's extremely helpful. Hopefully I'll get lucky and find someone who likes them even though they're not trendy. It would be nice if they could go to someone who will enjoy having them.

Is it possible that the seat covers are not original? My great Aunt did needlepoint and replaced the covers of all her chairs with her own creations. She had the seat covers installed by a professional. They were outstanding (like these chairs).

Yes, I can see that. It would be lovely. Too bad there aren't more chairs.

Yes, the seat covers I'm sure aren't original though they will have been changed out early on. I remember my mother talking about her relatives doing the needlepoint.

The longer I look at these chairs, the more I like them. One last observation, they look like a set that was split up, for instance, half to one sister and half to the other sister. A complete set of dining chairs often includes 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs.

Thank you! I am pretty much positive that's all there ever were. They were always in our house when I was growing up and I knew any relatives (and their furniture) that would have gotten any others if they existed. It's probably all my grandparents could afford. :)
