What is the possible age of the fabric and what is the country of origin? The seller said that he got the napkin from his great-grandmother, who lived in the 19th century. The napkin was stored for a long time in a suitcase. As I asked one person. he said that the style of the fabric is European.I wonder what it could be? 345345335.jpg 34545.jpg 34534534.jpg

Bottom image.....what do you call the left side image.....name is eluding me ATM!!! It looks different, to me, than what I'd call an Eagle in upper Right corner.....BTW, whole 'napkin' looks BEAUTIFUL!!!!

@SSlava, you might ask the moderator to move this to Textiles, where you could get more relevant attention.

Also, please post photos of the back of the piece, so we can see the type of weave/stitching.

You don't give size but that certainly doesn't appear to be a napkin. Looks like a doily, a little decorative panel to be set on furniture in a living room, for instance. The images of the man and woman are 1930s-ish not from the 1800s.

My immediate reaction was "Italian"! But I don't know much about linens. Just what I've seen.

Think 1930s? Strange. The seller said that this grandmother died in the 1920s, and these things were kept for a long time with her.
    Well, I do not know)).

The sensibilities of the figures are modern, not Victorian. The woman has Art Deco finger waves. With that strong shoulder and defined waist, she looks like she's nipping at the 1940s.

The gold bullion around the edge says 1930s/1920s to me too.
