Featured Silver Women Belt Buckle.

Hello to everyone. I bought a silver belt buckle, it seems interesting to me even there is a marking "Three towers." Maybe city of Edinburgh or city of Exeter, I'm not sure - I need your help, any of your opinions about this silver buckle. Thanks in advance, thanks to everyone.

 

Looks like the Danish tower mark. Edinburgh and Exeter would have full British hallmarks.

It is a gorgeous buckle, btw, well done.

The first Danish hallmarking was made in Copenhagen at the end of the 15th century.
Later, other cities as Aalbotg, Aarhus, Odense and Viborg introduced their own mark as a guarantee of precious metals.
In 1893 the "Three-tower" mark of Copenhagen was adopted as the national mark in the new standardized hallmarking system. Copenhagen had the only Assay Office in Denmark.

 

I will try to make out three letters [maker's marks], after that maybe I will find out the date of manufacture.

 

I'm having a hard time making out these marks (other than the '13'), but doubt they are Danish, just don't look right to my eye. 13 loth would be only about .812 fineness, below Danish standard .826, so the 3-tower mark wouldn't be present, and there should be an assay-master mark, and if a Copenhagen/Danish mark, the year would be below the towers (in one pic, looks like there is something), the bottom mark is just undecipherable for me, but would think the maker. Perhaps German, maybe Hamburg, though the oval would be atypical - if so, there should be a letter in the gate below the towers that would give indication of the date...

It is very confusing, and I agree, if the 13 refers to the fineness, it can't be Denmark. Not Hamburg either, imo.
There are several three tower marks in Germany, Poland, and Bratislava in Slovakia, all countries which once used lothige fineness. None of them look like this mark though.

The style is not indicative of a specific region either, that I know of.

 

The towers in the mark have a flat top, so I don't think it is Hamburg.

 

No time to look through references right now or even in the near future, and I'm not saying that it is a Hamburg mark, could most definitely be from elsewhere, but German town marks varied quite a bit. The marks are still pretty unclear to me, unsure if there are actually some letters or numbers at the bottom of the tower mark, and cleaning up the third mark might reveal a maker's mark.
