Can You post more detailed photos of your painting. If it's an original Edwardian Cat painting by Robert Morley (1857-1941),it could be worth 5-6K,providing it's not some type of clever print or a hand-painted copy being done in Asia (China has some excellent assembly-line copyists).

Yes, and please include photographs of the painting including frame from both the front and back. Also, please tell us how you acquired it and what you know about it.

came from a trift shop....did think it was late victorian but have done some research on the label on the back......the company came ltd in 1901..and were printers of prints and books so think this original was used to make prints????..have listed it on ebay....

The presence and wording of the back label incline me to think this is a print and not a painting. Where on the back is the label located? On the frame?

top corner...taken out of the frame-paint over the edge of the board, also texture on the picture also printers would have used an original to make a print,,also picture is very dirty

Bemrose & Sons were printers. With a quick glance... The internet says "Bemrose & Sons Limited" dates to 1901 - 1906.

Really need more info, have you got a magnifying glass to check for print dots? The frame looks typical for a print.

I cannot see it properly, the op hasn’t said if it’s painted on canvas, or paper stuck on wood or board etc.
I would like more info as Bosko and Bakersgma have asked for, to help the op if I can.

Circuitous as it might be,I personally would get the piece authenticated before Listing.A genuine Morley could put a extra few grand in your pocket.Victorian printers had some very convincing (including hand embellished) techniques when it came to replicating paintings.Good luck !

Do you have a 10x Triplet Loupe ? You will get a more detailed idea w/ one of those re dot/litho poss-printed base art.I remember @Bronwen saying she'd picked-up a microscopic lens for her camera to get really fine closeups.
PS-Hope my memory serves me right Bronwen,if not apologies.

BlackBk-Those last 3 Pics are what we needed ! The topography of the paint strokes look good to me.I can't tell you if it's a genuine Morley, but from what I can see (2K miles away),seems a real painting.
PS-You in the UK as I assume ? ...folks rarely list their Country of Origin on the Profile Page-perhaps don't want the tax revenue drones circling over the house ?

Mine may have been the most recent mention of these handy gadgets, but I learned of their existence here at Antiquers.
