    Greetings everyone!
I was wondering/hoping that the knowledgeable Antiquers here could help me out. My family has come into possession of a Rip Van Winkle Reclining Rocking Chair. The only thing I can tell is that is was made after 1892 due to the patent information on the company plaque. The only thing I've been able to find on the internet is the World's Fair coupon and vintage ads. Nothing to speak of of the chair itself.
The chair has been reupholstered and refinished I believe.
Does anyone have any information about this chair? Or perhaps I can be pointed in the right direction on where to locate information about this?

I appreciate any help you folks could offer,

With the patent info linked, not sure there's lots more to find. Look in old Sears catalogs, maybe they carried it. You could also find out about the company that made it. If none of that is enuf, ask another question here.

Wow, the "reclining" feature really adds to that "platform rocker" (as we used to call them).

I'm just curious but . . . at some point when it is "reclined" does it cease to have its "rocking" capabilities. In other words, it is "stable/"locked" in position and not capable of rocking" when it is reclined (all the way)?

Well, I know that the old ads for it boast 200 changes of position. If rocking while fully reclined is not one of those, I would be surprised. Due to it's age I'm not sure I want to test it's limits. :)

I'm with Spring. Really sounds like you pretty much have all the information to be found. This is a lot more than we find out about most old furniture.
