only about 25% full, still cool though, got some serious research to do

Stamps are fun, or researching them is. My dad was a stamp collector and I swear I learned more geography from the stamps than I ever did in school.

 

I totally agree evey. I love looking through them. I know a little bit, but from what I've learned, most albums are usually in the novice category

This one is a cut above

 

What I will say is that the whole great Britain section has been pillaged

Looks like there was once penny blacks,reds
From 1840, taken out

 

At some point someone wanted the British stamps, but not the German ones. WWI maybe?

 

earlier, the album was made in 1890 specifically for pre 1890s stamps

Each stamp has a place to fill like a sticker book

Which is awesome because all the info is there in the book

 

I see this more and more now here also (in past it perhaps wasn’t so evident/obvious) Certain things gets set aside and dealers get phoned directly. Very frustrating,not sure how you get on that ‘list’ ,but money talks so you probably have to ‘out pay’ your way in!

Ill Will doesn't do that at least; they keep it all for themselves and sell it on line. The ReStore takes the really good stuff and sends it to auction too, but at least they're a real charity. Fine art and such goes to auction. OTOH, Waterford hits the sales floor.

 

I could easily get caught up in the whole charity/thrift stores don't sell anything good anymore.

Truth is I find better things now than ever with better knowledge

It's the unmarked indefinable stuff that slips the net

 

As it has ever been elsewhere. Knowledge = money!
