Featured What do you think these beads are made of?

The are definitely carved as no two are alike. They have areas of a grayish color. I have found similar when I search that are described as bone. But I don't think that's what these are. I am leaning towards shell of some sort but obviously I certainly don't know. I would welcome any opinions or help to determine what they are. Thanks as always.

I was going to say glass because some of them have a light sheen, but I think with the colors interspersed, you might be right about shell. Never seen any like it. Very pretty.

Thanks tie.dye.cat. They do have a slight shine that's why I think shell and not bone. They are too light for glass and I'm pretty sure they are carved "something".

That was a lot of work that went into it if it's shell. Are the beads uniform or show slight differences in the carving?

There are noticeable differences in both the size and the carved design over all the beads.

Thanks wlwhittier. I really have no clue. I did a search using white coral but didn't find anything to match. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Not bone or ivory?

Thanks for looking gauntlettgems. They are a bit cool to the touch and I don't see the lines or spots that indicate ivory or bone.

I’d vote shell. That pinky tinge.

Thanks Owned. I think shell also but they have a shade of gray in spots so I wasn't sure.

Thats not uncommon for natural shell.
