012-BREASTFEEDING-MOTHER-PICASSO-GALERIE-MINIATURE-800-PIX-W.jpg Can anyone figure out what the pencil written word after "Picasso," is?

What is this type of printing with all the tiny geometrical dots called? As you look at it you can pick out little flower shapes scattered around in the pattern. It's all imperceptible to the naked eye. The camera enlarges and magnifies these details. I was surprised when I loaded the pictures.

And, I can't find any other Camilla Speth mini prints glued on board. I would think the world would be lousy with these things. Has anyone seen Camilla Speth mini prints before? Could it be a page from a tiny book?

    On-line translators tell me
    Buch- und Kunsthandlung mit Bilderpassage
    means
Book and Art Shop with pictures passage
    or
Book and art action with picture passage

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I think this print was mass produced for sale at the book and art shop mentioned on the back.

The pattern that you see is from the printing process used to make this. I believe it is some photomechanical process, but I don't know which one. Maybe somebody else here can tell you.

Laura - The word following Picasso is the title "Maternite" (in French?)

yes, Motherhood. the phone no. looks fiftyish at first sight, but would need further investigation. if earlier and with such big dots certainly a cheap German print. before the war the real kings of art printing were all located in Switzerland and to some minor degree in Eastern France (Braun etc.)

The new post today of a Picasso mother and child print made me remember this and I started looking for more information about Camilla Speth again after all these years. In 2015 all I could find was old phone book listings in Germany.

I found something very interesting today. It looks like her art and book shop was a happenin' place back in the sixties! This page is all in German and the 6 minute video is all in German. It's a really high quality black and white video. Wait till you see the parlor down in the cellar!

And a nice write-up about the painting here:

It looks like I got the date wrong, tho it looks like 1905 to me they say 1909 and I suppose they know what they're talking about.

That looks like 4-color process printing, loupe a color magazine page and you should see the same pattern.

If I remember right, I think after looking at a bunch of websites I decided this was called offset lithography rosette pattern.

And since the print is basically uninteresting and worthless I became more interested in finding out more about Camilla Speth and what her bookstore and gallery was like.

So I was excited to find that film.:playful:
