Featured Glassies,clearly Murano but ....!

Hi all. Found this gorgeous hunk of glass and it made me buy it. Its 11 inches high,5 wide and has a foil Murano sticker. Shouldnt be hard to find,right ? Wrong ! I am the King of unfindable crap ! At least to myself! Any input yall can add would be most appreciated.

Give a close up of the Murano sticker. It might be a good clue. Most of it is obscured by reflection in your first picture.

This one on eBay looks like it was made by the same Murano Glass maker. The seller is claiming A.V.E.M. / AVEM without explanation. I don't have my finger on the pulse of Murano glass sales, but $1,200 seems like a lot to be asking for that vase.

I can't vouch for anything regarding that ebay listing description and title, but maybe it's worth looking into.

My goodness but Murano identification is all over the map,isnt it ??? Im thinking this *may* be Bizantino ,it does seem to have a little bit of everything thrown in.

 

It’s a generic label. I’d suggest looking at the albums on the Facebook Murano group, you’ll at least know if it’s the real thing.

 

I was just over on the 20th Century Glass website. I thought if it could be verified there I'd be satisfied. But it is still confusing.

It seems like the Veneziano glass is the one with all the sparklies, but is suspected to have been made by AVEM. LOL.

 

Im so confused ! I tried to make sense out of it all but I confess Im overwhelmed!

 

in old school terms we called this technique FOIL - and that is why it is being attributed to AVEM

Beautiful Johnny C-Well at least the Seller didn't skimp on the price tags & with that big Murano Label yelling out,they're stupid too ! Them's the shops I like with a capital!

 

Not all Murano labels are Murano. The Facebook group has a whole album of fake ones.

 

Update ,sort of. I gave it a good wash and it looks worlds better. I did however spot what I think might be a crack,even though it doesnt show on the outside. Could that be a manufacturing flaw? Heres a few pics,tell me what yall think. Please.

It's called an annealing shear. An internal crack or flaw, dating back to when the vase was made and not cooled down slowly enough. They can appear years later.
