It's almost 40" long; the beads are slightly graduated, 7/8" to ~1 1/8" in length. I believe the intricate knots between the beads have a name, but cannot recall what it is. The damage in pic 3 scares me a bit...but I don't wear it, so probably it's safe for now.
Is this associated with a spiritual practice, or otherwise of special significance...or simply adornment? Thanks for lookin'!

    ___ Chinese Knots

(Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune). Similar to bagua mirrors, knots are supposed to ward off evil spirits, hence are a symbol of longevity and eternity. Knots act as good-luck charms given during Chinese New Year celebration.

Endless knots, as komo said, Buddhist symbol of eternity.
It is a nice old necklace, missing a central pendant, probably also carved bone.

    ...missing a central pendant...
Yup...the place where it hung shows a clean cut; someone perhaps high-graded that pendant, or maybe it was damaged, an' removed for that.
