Hi guys I bought 7 of these at a sale today and the lady said they are crystal but how do you know? They thump like crystal with the ringing sound but how else can you know? What kind of glass is this a wine glass? And has anybody ever seen these maker or design? They are 8 1/4 inch tall. Any help would be wonderful!!! I didn't find no marks at all.

Those are Cristal D'Arques, moulded glass. Still made, French, and designed for champagne.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thank you, OBB... I was told they are French, "very nice", and I know they were bought in the 70s. I THINK the brand/name started with an "S".
    Thanks for the thread, Roger.

cluttered, they're not lead crystal, they're the Arques copy formula, which has no lead. Diamax.

Sold a set of 6 of these recently, manufacturers labels in place stating that they are 24% lead crystal.

That's interesting. I wonder if yours were older.

Yes, interesting. Would love to know more about whether lead or not.

    1. The comment section on the "Longchamp" wines selling on Amazon says: "This is made from a product they are calling "Diamax", which is a type of glass, not lead crystal."
    http://www.amazon.com/Cristal-dArques-Longchamps-Stemware-Glasses/dp/B0006LP9QS

    2. The actual "Longchamp" flutes selling on Amazon titles them: "Cristal D'arques Diamax Longchamps Crystal Champagne Flute." Says in the following that Diamax was used since 2010:

"Diamax is a revolutionary new material developed by Arc International in 2010. An environmentally friendly material with exceptional qualities of purity, brilliance and resilience. Long after the first use, Diamax will add sparkle to your table and a daily dash of brightness to your home."
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003VM7M3W?tag=petetdavi&creativeASIN=B003VM7M3W

    3. "Longchamp" on replacements.com doesn't mention lead crystal nor does it mention diamax with this pattern. They only say: "Clear, Cut"
    http://www.replacements.com/webquote/CRALON.htm

    4. Cristal D'Arques pattern "Lovely" on replacements.com calls it: "Luminarc, Diamax, Cut Heart.."
    http://www.replacements.com/webquote/CRALOV.htm#10300891

    5. Then there is this auction on Etsy for four flutes from 1978 showing the box saying 24% lead crystal like Rhi... said. You can actually see on the box at the bottom left corner a gold circle with "24%."
    https://www.etsy.com/listing/247906403/4-crystal-champagne-glasses-flutes?ref=market

If all the above links are correct, then I suppose it would mean they were lead crystal if made before 2010???

I'd guess that the set I sold were from the 70s/80s.

Thanks for the information! I think either way lead or no lead wouldn't they be valued at about the same price? With the holidays coming up they will be great on table. I just paid 2 dollars for all... what a deal.

Interesting that they changed the glass formula in 2010. Probably because so many people are afraid of lead content and sales dropped.

As I said I used to sell these in the 1980s. At that time they were lead crystal.

It's cost, mostly. Nazeing Glass has developed a proper lead crystal substitute.

We picked this up by the truckload in the 1990's. There was a discount store here that I think was called Service Merchandise. Went out of business many years ago. I've got other pieces like a decanter and an ice bucket around here somewhere but this will give you an idea of the various shapes produced. It was quite an extensive line but the stems are easiest to find nowadays. Sorry about the quality of the pictures but besides various stems and tumblers there is a butter dish, salt and peppers, creamers and sugars, and candy dish. I thought maybe I'd have one with a label but no luck. We use these quite a bit. I don't recommend using the dishwasher on these though. After awhile they can cloud.

There is a definite difference in the older pieces of Longchamp & what is coming out now. Just pick up one of the older footed ice tea tumblers & you will notice how heavy they are versus what they are producing now.

I actually do okay with this pattern & you are right it is very plentiful. However most of the buyers want the older pieces & some will ask you right out.

A while back I picked up 2 shelf lots of this glass that contained salad plates, the butter dish along with a bunch of assorted stemware. The butter dish & the plates did extremely well for me.
