    Hello dear forum members
I have found this beautiful old pocket watch. Now I would like to ask if anyone can tell me how old it is.

The only word that can be found inside is "Sigerist". Sounds Swiss or German but I didn't find anything with this name.

The diameter of the clock is 5.5cm, the diameter of the dial is 4.5cm, the height is around 2cm.

To me the watch looks very old, I have no idea about pocket watches but would blindly guess early 19th century.

I assume it would not be worth repairing in terms of price.

    Many thanks for any help

    Cheers, Mithrur

With that crown it is more likely German, but other than that I can't help.

I entered "Sigerist watch" into an artificial intelligence tool, and here's what it came up with:

Are you referring to the Sigerist pocket watch made by the Swiss watchmaker, Sigerist Frères? If so, Sigerist Frères was a family-owned watchmaking company located in the town of Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and was active from the late 19th century until the early 20th century.

Their pocket watches were well-known for their quality and craftsmanship, and they were particularly popular in the early 1900s. If you have a Sigerist pocket watch, it could be a valuable antique depending on its age, condition, and rarity.

    Possibly worth some exploration...

    Sigerist Frères pocket watch worth

The value of a Sigerist Frères pocket watch can vary depending on several factors, such as its age, condition, rarity, and the materials used to make it. Some Sigerist Frères pocket watches can be worth thousands of dollars, while others may be worth only a few hundred.

To determine the value of your specific Sigerist Frères pocket watch, you may want to consider having it appraised by a professional watch appraiser. They can provide a more accurate assessment based on the watch's unique features and condition.

In general, Sigerist Frères pocket watches are highly collectible and sought after by collectors of vintage and antique timepieces. If you have a Sigerist Frères pocket watch in good condition with all of its original components, it may be worth a significant amount of money.

Would you like to buy the Sigerist Frères pocket watch?

As an AI language model, I'm not capable of buying anything, including your Sigerist Frères pocket watch. My role is to provide you with information and answer your questions to the best of my ability.

Be careful about asking ChatGPT about artwork. I asked it for a list of public sculptures by a known, mid-tier artist, and every piece on the list was actually by a different artist. It gives authoritative answers, but it's surprising how many inaccurate things it has said on a variety of topics.

Oh wow, a new tool to find the origins of things. I like it. Was this ChapGPT?

I'll also throw out to anyone who uses google image search, I've heard Yandex image search is a step above. I believe it may be Russian owned though, so just a heads up on that.

The works look much older than 19th century to me. Could it be they made a replacement case and not the watch itself? Id swear it was 18th century. But what do I know ? :)

"Easy" way to find out - is that visible jewel a real or lab-created ruby? Synthetic ruby jewels became the standard fairly early on once they were invented. No flaws and you didn't have to cut them much.
