    Antique Hartshorne Potteries black transfer cream ware jug
    This English jug was made by J. Thompson of Harsthorne Potteries. The company was started in 1818. The jug is 4 inches tall and 4 � inches across including the handle and spout. The jug has a black transfer on a yellowish ground. The bottom of the jug is hallmarked J. Thompson Hartshorne pottery near Ashby de Le Louch. We believe this dates circa 1825. There are 4 small hairline cracks on the bottom. There

    Hi Calico,
    I love your mug or is it a can? That black and yellow transfer ware always gets me started on thinking collecting again.

    Hi Greg, I'm guessing it's a mug at 4" high and 5+1/2" across including the handle.

    I have what must be a part of the same pottery line except mine is a creamer. No hairlines but the transfer on mine was smudged in a few areas at the time of its firing. Thank you for dating it. :)
