Does anyone know if I can get replacement pulls and backplates for a Bassett MCM highboy? Bought this for only $20 but it's missing two of its pulls. If not, any ideas on what I could use instead. I was thinking of using starburst backplates on the top drawer and then replacing all of the pulls to match. TIA.

I don't see a place for missing pulls. Do you mean the bottom drawer? It looks like that never had pulls, in which case open by sliding out from the bottom?

I've recently just become interested in furniture and I didnt even notice that the bottom pulled out! Haha. Thank you so much. That's awesome. Here's an actual photo of my missing pulls. There's 2 missing.

You might possibly find some on ebay but expect to pay a premium for them. Have heard of people buying a second piece to match in bad condition just for pulls. Otherwise, I like your idea of using a starburst backplate but would do so on only the top two. Keep the others original because you might just eventually find a match.

Like brad says it is worth a scan on ebay, though it is unlikely. Also try to see if anyone makes after-market new copies - also unlikely since those are normally the higher end makers who used the same pulls for many years. If you are going to sell it then a swap for the pulls on the top drawer is probably the best solution.

I had a similar problem once, a Stanley dresser that was missing the surround for one of the drawer pulls. I was able to make one from scrap aluminum that was a good match and only detectable by careful observation. Only worth the effort if this is the kind of thing you are interested in playing with for a while. Take off one of the existing pulls and take it apart to see what pieces you need to replicate. Take it to the hardware store and look for pieces that could work. Or start with piece you have already - like maybe you could start yours with a snapple bottle cap or similar?

The one I duplicated looked like this (I cut it out, filed it, then I masked and black spray painted it). It can be done, but may not be worth the time and effort unless this is the kind of thing you enjoy.
