Really have not found all that much other than cheap furniture to fix up. A couple exceptions are this painting and a hand painted Christmas angel by Bonnie Barrett. If you are not familiar with these stand up figures, you should have a look. Certainly worth looking out for. I am not going to post it here since I currently have it listed. You can see some good examples of her work on ebay. Not particularly my thing but like them for the potential $$.

This painting is a bit of a puzzler. I initially thought it was a PBN when seen from a distance. It is clearly not one but certainly has that look. I wonder if it might be a proto-type from which a PBN was created? I could find no PBN that matches so maybe not. Otherwise, it might be an illustration or done by someone with some commercial art background. Unfortunately, it is not signed. It is just painted on a plain 18 x 24 canvasboard without any markings. Bought at the thrift store for $3.00.

Yes, those Bonnie Barrett pieces can go for some good money. I had a stand-up Santa several years ago, I think it sold for close to $200.00

Brad, paint by number was my first thought when I looked at your painting, too. It does look much more like an illustration than typical paintings meant to be hung.

    Hi Brad,
Your painting jogged my memory of the magazine Field and Stream. It brought back a lot of memories of the 1940s. Did a lot of hunting then for food NOT sport.
Always had beagles instead of pointers. Back in the 1970s a large paint store in Manhattan had a huge sale of original illustrations for magazines and book covers.
I bought four or five, just liking the image. One sold for 800 dollars, I paid 5 for it.
Turns out it was a famous illustrator. There were tables piled high with all kinds of artwork. People like me just framed the stuff as original art. I always wondered how many famous ones were sold then.

It is very Field and Stream in genre and execution. I would think this dates to the 60s or 70s so could be an illustration for such a magazine. It is a shame it is not signed. I have always done well with illustration art but it always helps to know more about it than I do this one.

    Hi Brad,
I guess you checked the back and the edge. My was signed in tiny tiny letters on the back edge.

    Hi Johnny,
I love your Wheaton bottles. Used to have 2-3 dozen of them. Set them on glass shelves in the windows. First thing in the morning you saw all that wonderful color.

I had a collection as a child,it led to my collecting bottles for years. I always wanted more, but the only ones I ever ran across were the made in Taiwan ones. They just don't have the color Wheaton has,so when I saw these I had to !

I have sold one of these and maybe seen a couple more. Made by Dent as a novelty along with a Congreve clock replica, 20 years ago worth about £500 to £600, I'd be interested to know what they are going for now.

Their triple fusee Congreve replica took a lot of fiddling with to make it work, I think this design was a bit easier to run but I'm not sure. If it is not working reliably the escapement probably needs cleaning. Does it have the glass cover?

If I saw one I'd buy it if the price was reasonable in the current depressed clock market.
