Hm. It says "Hand Painted" but looks a lot more like transferware to me. I suspect a possible Asian import, but all the crackling and discoloration suggests older. Very confusing.

I could be wrong but I also suspect an Asian import meant to evoke a Staffordshire vibe. The scene doesn't make a great deal of sense. Few of us grew up on a Homestead like the one pictured. The handle seems impractical for Staffordshire. Agree, Bakersgma, very confusing.

    It's a weird Allerton's mark and a coffee pot.

Maybe meant to look like Allerton?

Replacements shows a Homestead pattern by Allerton, but describes it as "Coaching Scenes", which this obviously is not.

Also, they show a brown, as well as a blue, colorway. This is the only coffee pot shown, and the handle (and base, etc) is indeed different:

Mark doesn't look right either. I think it's like the pot itself - meant to imply a respected manufacturer.

Well, the Japan mark puts a new spin on it. Still not hand painted, is it?

No, it may be one of those deceptive labels that you sometimes see. I've seen it on Delftware where the main design is a transfer and the color "wash" areas are applied by hand. Tricky huh?

yes i also wonder the same thing,it was marked hand painted but the image looks like transferware

so the another information is,this jug maybe was put outside under the sunshine for a long time, maybe it make discoloration and the cracks?
