Blue Onion - If unmarked, it's not Meissen, right?

Small candy dish with handle. No mark on bottom, but a spray of raised flowers. Any clue as to maker?

No, no and no. No mark no Meissen.

Study the Onion pattern from Meissen pieces and others to see how this one comes up short. For one thing it is more effete, wimpy even, in comparison. Certain elements crowd, others are too sparse -so there is an unbalance to the overall pattern.

Close up it may be hand painted, arms length it is lacking.

    Hi Bev,
I think the bottom is more beautiful than the front. :D. years ago I was doing ceramics and my favorite thing to paint was blue onion though I did mine in brown instead of blue. I sold six lamps and dozens of cannister sets. I always wondered if any of them ended up in "antique" shops. they were signed with just my initals GJH and the years 72 and 73.

I'll start looking! I'm listing it as if it was MIJ and leave it at that.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how old this is? It is large for a saucer ( 7 1/2 inches diameter)? There is no mark. I am guessing that it is transfer ware. The foot rim is unglazed. Thank you for any thoughts.

Wonder if it is Seymour Mann Japan Bev?
I had a box full of steins and other assorted blue onion items that I sold years ago.
    Pretty pattern.

That original dish is a copy of the shape of 17th and 18th C pickle dishes.

You should start another, new, thread with your question as this one was quite old, and people may not look.

And while you're at it, bigger pictures are also in order.
