and drums are always louder bj the drummer used to throw a pillow or small blanket in there to muffle the bass drum , and some duct tape with some toilet paper in it on the skin too muffle the snare DSC08734.JPG

thanks lloyd, i knew you'd be able to give me some ideas / info on how this can be done! I carry rhe rubber pad w the drum so i can muffle it when i sing, but there's really not many songs that cannot stand some added drum beats! Tape and small pads look very do-able, thanks! I plan to buy that beater thing next, one with good padding, and look for a hard sided overnight bag instead of a larger, louder bass drum. I have also learned to drum softly, although that is generally followed by wild and abandoned drumming after practice is over!! haha!!

Hal Blaine (born Harold Simon Belsky; February 5, 1929 – March 11, 2019) was an American drummer and session musician estimated to be among the most recorded studio drummers in the history of the music industry, claiming over 35,000 sessions and 6,000 singles. His drumming is featured on 150 US top 10 hits, 40 of which went to number one, as well as many film and television soundtracks.

thanks I will look up Hal , I have no idea of drum terminologies yet.. I will check into Hal Blaine too, thanks for listing his names here. I have used youtube instead of paying $45 for a half hour of instruction. Im sure the time can come when I will want some lessons, but not sure how soon that time should come? so far, i have been concerned to watch the posture and stick holding techniques. trying to get started without a lot of bad habits that will need to eventually be altered lol. thanks for all helps!

i watch a few drumming vids at youtube also taught me the two snare hits with one stroke two kicks with one stroke stuff like that , you can invest in a double kick also to keep your left foot busy as for stick handling it's what ever you feel comfy with, now ,but i watch the greats and they all hold the right palm up left down . like ringo
