20151028_130422.jpg 20151028_130446.jpg 20151028_130505.jpg hi I've just joined this site today and hope it's ok for me to start a thread straight away. I have been emptying my mothers house over the summer after she passed away in January and have come across a number of items that I'm not sure of their background. This is one of them. Does anybody own a similar item and are the initials the name of the company? Would be grateful of any help.

The design was registered in 1872. The I on the right-hand diamond point.

Would that date it to that period if I'm looking for family initals?

Very nice. FCG not a T, and I'd think made for someone with those initials. High end, high quality.

Thanks for the help. I know that my mothers maternal family were Griffiths so that would explain the G but a bit stuck with the other two letters. Any idea who the company would be?

No they really were not. My grandfather was a merchant seaman and I have a number of items from Asia that he brought back which I will post tomorrow. You think it would have been an expensive item at the time? Im guessing its a wedding gift maybe?

Wedding gift is a good thought. I doubt it was cheap - I'm looking forward to seeing more of your things. :)

Do you know when your grandparents were married? Given the design date, I was thinking great-grandparents perhaps? Maybe even 2X greats.

True it could be great grandparents but the initals dont match. There are plenty of Catherines which would explain the C but cant think of any F. I thought it might be an R for a while which would make sense
