Odd Marionette or Puppet. Help with ID

    Hello everyone

    Have this odd vintage puppet or marionette and was looking to find out if there is some special name for this type of toy. It operates from below rather then above. Apparently you manipulate the puppet by controlling the levers from below which are attached by strings. Does it have a specific name for this type of toy?     Thanks for the fast reply. While it mounts on a rod apparently all the finer movements are controlled by moving the wooden levers up and down on the wooden block on the bottom of the rod. Which at one time were attached by black thread to its appendages. I thought it might have another name that was more descriptive.
