From my collection of Amsterdam School jewellery, an elegant silver ajour brooch with white moonstone.

I love it, but the maker's mark is blotchy, so it is difficult to read.
The only thing I can make of it is RR4, but that could be wishful thinking.
R4 and RR4 are marks of Reggers, the most sought after Amsterdam School jewellery maker.
Reggers did make some floral ajour pieces, but he is more famous for stylised sea creatures and shells, supergorgeous.

Can anyone help me read or recognize the mark, please? It is the long mark that looks like a tag.
The smaller mark is a Dutch silver mark which I know, and there are some small dimples which are just dimples, so no need to scrutinize those.;)

Not really relevant to my querie, but I know some of you want to know (you know who you are....:shifty:), it is 9.7cm/3.8" long.

Also tagging our wonderful @DragonflyWink , whose silver mark eyes are much better than mine.:)

    Thank you for looking.

Elegant is absolutely the word for it. Very classy.
Can you find any more examples of the RR4 mark to compare?

Edit- Laura beat me to it and already found one :)

    Thanks Laura.:)
Yes, I actually have a Reggers brooch with a clear RR4 mark myself, but I still can't say for sure that this one is definitely a Reggers mark.:(
So I have been looking for badly stamped marks on known Reggers designs, preferably a similar botched mark.
The mark is really in bad shape, I have no idea what happened there. It looks like someone took a hammer to it.

Is it a double strike? Maybe squint at it like one of those Magic Eye pictures to bring it onto focus?

    Could be.
    I think I squinted to much, I read 132.:hilarious:

Heehee.:joyful: This is the first time I've ever heard of someone looking for a poorly struck mark. I passed by so many to find one that was clear.
The mark looks like a ribbon to me and I was searching for Fons Reggers ribbon marks.
The seller has a book reference at this link and the RR4 Reggers mark is poorly struck. Oh, I hope this is what you are looking for and it helps.

Any, I wish I could help but I am maybe the worst person here at the forum when it comes to deciphering marks :( Probably I fall short of imagination :)

The brooch is a real beauty! And others have found quite a lot of evidence that it is the mark you are wishing for so I would assume it is indeed it.

Lot going on today, but I've popped in here a few times trying to make out your mark, AJ - not much luck, but usually see the second letter as an 'S' (perhaps an illusion). I made up a composite with your mark and Reggers marks, enlarged and clarified a bit (not sure it helped, might've hindered), seems apparent none are the exact same punch, which isn't surprising at all.

Sorry, that's all I've got, but with very little knowledge of Amsterdam School, would ask if the engraved decoration on your lovely piece would be typical of Reggers since a quick image search didn't bring up any for me...

What can I say, I am quirky.;)
Yes, that brooch is a Reggers classic. Thank you for trying to find bad marks for me.:joyful::kiss:
The mark is also badly struck, but different from mine.:playful:
Thank you Iva. I hope it is, but either way, I love the brooch.:)

Thank you for taking the time to look anyway, I appreciate it, as always.:kiss: They certainly made a mess of their punches, didn't they.
It isn't the more usual Reggers, but they did do engraved ajour pieces, like this lovely butterfly brooch in the Centraal Museum Utrecht:

Flowers and butterflies aren't typical Reggers subjects either, they mostly made either marine themed jewellery or Indonesian design inspired jewellery, or a combination of both. My favourite is their stylised octopus brooch.
But they also made a few more classic Art Deco pieces, like star sign brooches and stone set bar brooches.
My perfectly marked Reggers brooch is one of those Art Deco bar brooches, set with a beautiful spinel.

Identifying silver marks is definitely not my forte, but the outline of the mark looks the same to me.

Thanks Dessert.:) Unfortunately it is a pretty common shape for Dutch maker's marks of the period.
