Looks real to me as well, although it might not be an antique.
Dress clips like this were worn into at least the 1940s.

It could be a dress clip.

However, my inclination is one of a pair of shoe clips from the 1960s. I'm basing this on the filigree metal design as well as the shiny oval faux pearl.

Just my opinion and I have been wrong in the past.

Old. 1930s in fact. This one is pot metal, and during the War all the pot metal went into the bullet molds. After the War dress clips were long out of style and no one was making them any more.

I don't think I have ever seen a shoe clip with that long of a clip. They would dig into one's foot pretty badly.

You are probably right about the war issue. I hadn't thought of that.

I was thinking shoe clip, too, though Messi had a good point about the length.

    It says filagree fur clip.

    fil·i·gree
    ˈfiləˌɡrē/
    noun
    1. ornamental work of fine (typically gold or silver) wire formed into delicate tracery.
      "delicate silver filigree earrings"
synonyms: tracery, fretwork, latticework, scrollwork, lacework, quilling
      "decorated with gold filigree"
A "clip" could be a dress clip or a shoe clip.

As a short-footed person, the point about the length is well noted. I had a buckle-shaped pair once, that I wore to a loooong cocktail party. When I got home, I had a red and angry and raw stripe across my toes. Not nice!

But a "fur clip" has two, very sharp, prongs/pins. ;)

I see. Thank you. So a shoe clip would be like the pic i posted?
It would be easy for the seller to mistake the two, wouldn't it?

Is that kind of the same, just my pic has a longer one due to the length of it?

    No, I don't think so.
The shoe clip was meant to be *pinched* onto the edge of the shoe at the toes.
You would have hardly felt it, unless your shoes were too small.

So if it is not a shoe clip or a fur clip. What could it be?

The one you showed in your open post is a dress clip.

Dress clip single. They were most often sold in pairs. NOT a shoe clip in any way, shape or form. Fur clips all have the double prongs on the back. They aren't worth a ton unless they're from a recognized maker. I wouldn't have gone much more than $5 on it, and then only if I liked it and wanted to wear it. The valuable ones have maker's marks and were often done in precious metals.
