Guideline Suggestions for giveaways

    Thank you Peter for creating this category.

    There aren't actually any guidelines yet - but I figured we could use this thread to figure some out.

    On Mansons Abondoned Art thread, some of us were talking about what a great idea it was, and that it would be fun to have a give away category on this board.

    My ideas for guidelines include:
    • one thread for each giveaway
    • person who receives the item pays for postage
    • the giver decides how to give away what they have - for example, first to ask for it, who wants it most, contest, whatever
    • the person who gets the item is free to do whatever they want with it - keep it, give it away, or sell it, unless the giver states otherwise initially
    Any other ideas or suggestions?

    Great idea! And thanks for taking the lead, Book. :)

    It might be a good idea to remind folks that the "Conversation" feature here would be a good and secure way for the donor and donee to communicate the personal information necessary to get the "thing" from point A to point B. Personal information should not be posted on the thread. ;)

    Bookahtoo, I like the guidelines you wrote. Right now I can't think of any additional ones. Maybe more can be added as time goes on? (Also, is it possible to have this thread pinned to the top so that when others come in it won't be buried?)

    Love this idea! I'm going to have to get busy and think of things to give away. Sounds like it will be much more fun than selling these days!

    Worrier that I am, I hope no one gets upset if they don't get an item. I can't think of a way around this, though. Anyone else have any ideas?

    I think we leave it up to the person who's giving the item away to decide how to to it.

    I guess as long as the person offering an item is clear about how it's going to work, all will be fine. I'm just a worry wart sometimes... it's another thing I inherited from my mother. :rolleyes:
