I found this framed Leaf at a 2nd hand store. While it is a shot in the dark, does anyone by chance know from what book this was removed from. It seems to be about different Saints. Not sure when it should have been printed. Looks kind of old…

Some version of Lives of the Saints in German. Beyond that... @Figtree3 ?

The top dude is St. Sabino I think. If there is a saint by that name. It looks like it's in a really old form of German and written in Fraktur to boot.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Well, I believe this would be from an incunabulum (incunable), or early printed book. More about incunable: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incunable

The pages may or may not be original... I mean could have been reprinted later. The original would have been some 500 years old.

By searching the phrase "sant Amandus ist" I found this page which includes the text from the incunable numbered GW M11402, which includes that phrase and the words after it. https://gesamtkatalogderwiegendrucke.de/docs/M11402.htm

That's about all that I know, without doing deeper research. And I hope that you will do more research, @Azimuth ! I'm no expert on early printed materials.

@Ex Libris , I know there are many like these, lives of saints were popular and thought to be edifying, but have you ever come across any of these pages?

This seems to be a hagiography (description of saints) printed in German. Possible an incunabula (1455-1501) or maybe a post-incunabula (1501-1540).

I will try to identify the leaf tomorrow.

I think this is a page of Der Heiligen Leben (The life of Saints). A book that was very popular in the end of the 15th and early 16th century. I was not able to find the exact edition, because there are many editions (41!) printed between 1471 and 1521.

Here are some examples that do not exactly match your copy:

    Version of 1475
    Version of 1518
