Anyone know anything about this urn? My mother found it in a house she bought in 1968.

    Hi Erika,

I can give you some similar Delft marks from a book. The book only has marks without any history etc. so I can't tell you if any are your mark but might be some names for research. It's also possible it's not any of these. I do not know what the numbers or additional letters mean.

From: Marks & Monograms on Pottery & Porcelain by William Chaffers

The first two pages appear to show artists from certain factories, the last, it seems, doesn't mention a factory association.

I think that you are very much in the right area, say_it_slowly! I looked up J Pieterz, the last artist listed on the page, and although the signature is different the vase is very similar:

    https://ac-antique.com/produit/delft-polychrom-vase-17th/

It seems that the vase was probably made in the factory De Metale Pot:

But the pot is in such wonderful condition, compared with the ones I've found online, and with the condition usually found in 17th century delftware after centuries of existence. It is either a very carefully-tended survivor, or just possibly a fake??? I would say well worth getting looked at by an expert, or maybe contacting one of the websites interested in Dutch Delftware. (How could someone leave it behind in a house? At least it wasn't chucked in a skip when the previous occupant left!)
