This little (2" diameter) porcelain "ball" with removable lid by Herend is pierced (reticulated??). Aside from "useless little thing that will get knocked off the end table", what would you call it? With a name I can research it..............

I'll give that a shot, but as I mentioned, it is pierced all over - including the bottom.

Edit: You are correct - most sellers are calling it a potpourri - though some are calling it an "openwork ball with a flower"................how imaginative...........

    Thank you!

Not sure if that would work either.but it DOES work as an idea for luncheon.........a FEW baby bonbons................

Bonbon is such a lovely sounding word, I had hoped you could use it in your description, but alas, you'll have to settle for a repast.

Way too small for "sitting on a table potpourri", but would work nicely in a lingerie drawer.

What a useless little lovely.............you are correct on table-scaping, but even in a drawer it would be a pesky thing................the piercings are so large that any small bits would be scattered all over and every time the drawer was opened or closed with even regular force it would roll over and lose the lid, thereby scattering crunchy bits amongst the brassieres...........most uncomfortable (I should think!). Although the public adjustments and "scratching" may gain a lady some favour among the male of the species..................

I would call it a Scent Ball, although potpourri will help more people find it on line.

I'm thinking it would go in the bathroom with something good smelling inside it (not pp) to make the bathroom smell fresh. It could sit on the counter.

    It's very pretty, at least.

I'm getting the feeling from looking over this site that there are many, many Herend items that are purchased, placed in a display cabinet, and forgotten about. Their only job is to be pretty and please the eye. So looking for a purpose might be pointless. Here's the site: https://www.scullyandscully.com/col...es/herend-strawberry-finial-openwork-ball.axd

Since they advertise a medium and large size, I guess there's also a small size.

These little mesh bags can hold lavender buds, cedar shavings, potpourri, or whatever else you'd like to use inside an openwork "scent ball". Keeps the mess to a minimum.
