Another "don't remember where I found this, but could not leave it!" Appears to be hobbyist painted and no marks of any kind on the bottom. The colors and design are very appealing to me!

And last but not least, today's awesome yard sale find!! Only $3 total for 4 sets of matchbox cover and individual ashtray - Deco-looking sterling by Webster!! :jawdrop::smuggrin:

I was shocked that the seller had the matchbox covers priced at 25 cents each and the ashtrays at 50 cents each! Even with my lousy eyes I could see the word sterling on every piece. How she missed it is a mystery

WOW!!! So... if I was the seller, I probably didn't even know they made ashtrays and match covers in sterling.

Awesome find, Bakers. Those are seriously cool. Love the bowl, too. Very appealing colors as you said.

Dutch silver besamon box. I remember seeing a similar one at a museum in Prague, and I've been wanting one ever since. I found it online. It didn't exactly break the bank, but it wasn't one of my great finds either.

    Hi Joe,
I always loved that piece of McCoy. I really hated to sell it but the woman did buy a lot and never tired to get a discount.

Not antiques by any stretch but def vintage. I can remember coveting Julip horses in the 70’s and poring over the catalogue and hoping like mad but they were very expensive and Santa never did come up with the goods :hilarious:.
    Started production in 1945.
Made of latex with poseable legs originally made from lead until the 60s.
No idea yet when these date from but I’m off to research. Huge set of model show jumps all made of wood - not sure yet if these are Julip too yet. Some cracking of the latex on the legs but otherwise pretty good.

I did two treasure hunts today, the first one was just searching for more bottle dumps but I didn't find any today, although I've always got my landfill tip but its nice to find different locations as well.

I also had a metal detecting permission this afternoon so after lunch I went metal detecting, I enjoyed it I didn't find anything all that great, it seems to be everyone else is digging the treasure apart from me. I dug a black rock that is very heavy and looks like flint but seems to be made from some sorta metal as my metal detector goes crazy when I pass it over the coil so I decided to take it home with me along with a few other bits and I found a glass marble with my metal detector... I dug a bit of metal and beside it was a marble.

The coin is a spendable 10p

Hopefully I'll get some better metal detecting finds tomorrow I've got another permission that has a lot of 1400s history. I must admit I do envy those who say that there metal detector paid for itself within two weeks somehow I find it hard to believe. I'm lucky if I get a crusty old penny. :bag:

The ring thingy turns out to be a bull ring from 1700s to 1800s

Have you seen the Google Art Project? Wow. That is something I could truly get lost in for a couple of hours at a time. The project provides the opportunity to not just look at the most famous works of art, but examine them in a manner of closeness that’s unavailable when standing in front of them in a museum – well without being grabbed by security at least. When you look at a painting you are learning about the subject of the painting and the intent of the artist. When you look closer, down to the texture of the canvas, you learn about the artist himself.
Just as every human has a unique fingerprint, artists have a unique brush style. The brush strokes tell a story much like a words in a book. Each stroke is a sentence. The strokes are weaved together in a section to form a paragraph. The sections form the entire painting or plot of the story. Each stroke must coordinate with the next one in order to create that visual harmony that so many of the world’s most famous paintings possess. What do these strokes tell us about these artists?

Could that rock be a meteorite? I'd take a magnet to it and see what happens. If it's a meteorite, you just scored.

Would like to see a well lit / in focus picture of it too. From the blurry pic - it looks possible. Could also be slag.

I hope its a meteorite :) I tested it on my magnet fishing magnet which is pretty powerful and the rock is slightly magnetic, I'll do some more tests later, I'm going to make the most of the good weather today and check out some flea markets followed by some more metal detecting.
