Silver ASH TRAY (?) with scroll / bath-type legs

Can anyone shed any light on this item?

Small silver item,

has MARKINGS, see photo

Used as an ashtray... owned by grandfather, Poland , Warsaw, known to have it since 1990s but think it could have been bought during or after WW2 in Warsaw.

Probably a pen tray, quite possibly plated.

 

It's about the length of a cigarette...photo on the way

 

I don't see it as an ashtray either - missing the depression(s) where a cigarette would rest between puffs.

The marks don't look like Polish silver marks (see the link below,) but even if it were made elsewhere and simply acquired in Poland, I don't see anything about them that matches any other country's system either. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Could be a dressing table pin tray.

I'd market it as a dolls house bath tub. It's a bit squat but that does not seem to bother kids and they'd only be bathing worms in it anyway.

Or was that just my thing?

 

"bathing worms in it" - sounds like something I would have done many moons ago - LOL

 

Given what happened to Warsaw during WWII, I'd say this is either prewar, or significantly postwar.
