Yes well just like the unnamed officials who specified the direction Chris was to look in the future, I like to plan A HEAD.

That one is so bad it hurt to write it

Sorry, I wasn't able to get back to this thread yesterday. Whenever the sword pommel changed to have the head facing front when looking at the front of the sword resulting with the head facing right when the sword is worn on the service baldric really doesn't matter because of the presence of the triad emblem. It seems that emblem wasn't added to the K of C 4th degree swords until c1940/1950.

    >I'd be happy to give you this nice book so you'd have it as another resource if you like, then I'd leave fraternal sword questions to you and whomever else wants to input, then I won't reply on them unless you give it up. Just send me a message with a shipping address.<

Oh, Spring what a generous offer! I will send you a message with my thoughts. Let me see if I can figure out how to send you a message **privately.** I believe I did it once, but forgot how.

Thanks Susan. I guess you will have to write to the authors about all the mistakes you are pointing out. The triad you mention is on both Columbus-head swords pictured on pp. 96, the one with side-facing Chris and the one with ahead-looking Chris, the former dated by authors to 1910-19 and the latter (marked Gleason) dated by the authors "1921-." So the authors are saying that the triad (dove, globe, and cross) dates back at least as far as 1910, but obviously you have found different information and you should bring it to their attention. I took the book as authoritative and all I've been doing is matching pictures and quoting from it; I haven't got any other sources like you do.

So my sword could be 1910 thru 1919 or 1921 or 1940 to 1950.....

So if I were to sell it......circa 1910 to 1950......I think I'd get laughed at !!

Sorry for causing so much confusion......

Well I still like it and any intruder will be lucky not to taste it's cold steel should I bring my toy to bear .....

    Or some such thing....

Thanks again for taking the time guys & gals !! :):):)
