I saw a lot of stickpins for sale in France, and this one immediately took my attention.
I didn't know what exactly it had been, but I knew I needed to own it and find out:happy:.
So it arrived yesterday, and it is nice but very tiny.
I had to look it up, and look what I found out:
Its the middle part of old Flemish earrings! (Belgium, 1830-1870ish).
It used to happen a lot that jewels were torn apart for inheritance, or maybe just because some parts went missing over time.
The stickpin top is 14 carat gold with some silver 'blobs' on it, that make the suggestion of being diamonds as opposed to some more detailed diamond-enriched ones.
You can see an example on how it looked originally in a picture of the book I found.
I have put some of my Flemish jewels next to it to show how tiny it is.
So, what would you do with it? Leave it as is, looking like an odd little stickpin?
Or would you make a pendant out of it with maybe a pearl drop?
Maybe even wait for the right drop that really matches its size and material? (Although that might be very hard to find?).
Thank you very much for your opinions.

Personally, I think it looks awkward as a stick pin. I would disengage it and put it on a thin gold chain. It would make a pretty, dainty pendant for every day wear or as a precious heirloom gift to a young relative.

Love, love, love, your collection! Always enjoy seeing it. You have a great eye.

That is the sweetest little thing, Dessert.
    Of course!:pompous:
Yay! A sweet jewellery component has come home.
With your luck and your keen eye, that would be my choice.

I have some Austro-Hungarian components that are waiting for pendants. Jewellery heaven comes to those who wait.;)

Any Jewelry, indeed, I had to bring it home!
I had hoped some of my other Flemish jewelry bits and pieces would fit, but its just so much more tiny and gold than what I have laying around.
But yes indeed: Jewellery heaven comes to those who wait
    You are very right :cat:

Like this? I tinted the pearls because white looked too white with the picture, but it might look fine in real life.

Elarnia, what a beautiful job you did with that picture!
I might choose to add some pearls temporarily, so I can already enjoy wearing it.
But eventually I will try to buy something like this small pendant that was sold a few days ago at catawiki:
I think that would fit my piece very nicely. 05AAA5EB-ABE5-42CE-A19E-F7E603B18106.jpeg
