Russian T-55 44-ton tank

Our local military vehicle club's newsletter contains this:

Gail R. has decided to offer Randy's T55 Russian tank for sale. There are several people including a Wisconsin dealer and aNew York museum who are interested. As of today none of these folks has put any money on the table. Randy has indicated that he would rather see this sold to a local/club member and Gail has indicated that it could be sold at a slightly lower asking price. They are looking at something like $35,000 (the only comparable I could find online was one for $43,500 or sale in Europe and it would take an additional $10-12K for shipping ,customs, and taxes to get it here.


Anyway, here are the details as I know them: Late model T55 Russian 44ton Main battle tank, 100mm main gun with torch cut breech, V12 diesel engine with compressed air starting system, good tracks and bogies, minimal rust, all equipment boxes in place. Ran good when delivered with exception of minor adjustment problem with track steering brake. Has Serbian Army markings and looks like it was updated and refurbished by French defense contractor GKN (one of the best in the business). Located at Wilson's Farm in Crownsville, MD. Currently surrounded by poison ivy and probably full of spiders but I am taking care of those problems.

I don't have any use for a Russian tank, but will keep this in mind. And I hope you decide in favor of having your wife stick around!

 

& if you don't....you could give her a secure ride to the bus station !

When I was writing the post the old Jack Benny joke about being robbed at gunpoint popped into my head. Robber says to Jack "Your money or your life!" And Jack hesitates a long time, robber repeats himself, Jack says "Ok, ok, give me some time, I'm thinking about it!" So I made up the part about a choice. Actually there's already a light tank turret in the back yard, I guess that'll have to do.

 

You put a t-55 in your back yard......^ EVERYONE will show up at your BBQ !!!!

I've always wanted a tank.....but I think my wife might object. Maybe if I said it followed me home......

Let's all go in on it together. We can store it at my house and everyone can come play whenever you like! If you bring ammo we can use the neighbor's junk yard for target practice.
