Recent acquisitions. Can anyone tell me if these are indeed Bedouin, or identify them more precisely? They appear to be of brass. TIA.

They are beautiful, and from Yemen.
Different regions have different styles. I can't pinpoint this specific style, but since they are base metal and with those glass decorations it could be from the south, Hadramaut or nearby. Only a slightly educated guess though.;)

Given that they are base metal, possibly with a little silver mixed in the alloy, I don't think they are Bedouin.
The Bedouin are a small minority in Yemen, only half a million on a population of 33 million.
Their lifestyle means that to them jewellery is an investment, to be sold when times are tough. So their jewellery is generally silver of a good fineness, usually based on the Austro-Hungarian Maria Theresia Taler, which is .833.

The Turks were that way when we lived in Turkey in the 60's . My parents hired a part time maid (Rosa ,such a dear) so my mom could learn Turkish. She came with gold bracelets on her arm. She did not take her pay until she had enough to buy another bracelet.

Maybe she was a Gypsy? There are a lot of Gypsies in Turkey, and that is a very Gypsy thing to do.
And a name like Rosa isn't very Turkish-Turkish. A Turkish woman would more likely be called Gül, which also means Rose.

One more question - would these have been kept highly polished when in use?

Polished, often because they rubbed against clothing in daily wear, but not overly polished. Some darker crevices are not a problem.
