My nephew passed away and his wife is going to sell this handgun. She can't find much about it on the internet so asked me to put it up here. She sent me these photos. Is there anyone that has or collects these pistols that could give me the information for her. Thanks,

I forgot to say, I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm curious about the name Brinker, was his surname Brinker too? It is originally from the east of the Netherlands.

    Yes, indeed...me too!
There were plenty of Generals in the Civil War...Let's find the one(s) named Brinker!

Said it belonged to his Aunt. She passed away and left it to him. He was my nephew by marriage. His wife is my sisters daughter. Their last name is not Brinker, it is Hutchings.

The date is 1876, so over 10 yrs later. Of course Brinker could already have been a general during the Civil War.

Well, AJ, he apparently was not. I'm far less confident now of finding the recipient of that Colt.

Is the serial number anywhere in the pictures? If so I can't see it.

Good links komoka! I see it's possible to get a lot of information from the historian at Colt Industries if you have the serial number.

Besides that, this li'l revolver has a lot of provenance if anyone can find out who General Brinker was. What is the last word after St. Bridget's?
