I found this a long time ago at a local thrift store. It was framed, along with a 2nd one. I've tried selling it - even offering it for $25 with the 2nd one thrown in for free & still no takers. So I decided to swap it for a Cuban travel poster, BUT(!) when I took the cardboard backing off I saw this was a painting not a poster! Any possibility of it being a real Botero? PS - The 2nd one was just a reg poster Thank you!
Don't know but it seems it's titled "the Dancers" and you can order a reproduction. https://www.wikiart.org/en/fernando-botero/the-dancers
I very much think it's a hand painted copy by someone other than Botero. If you compare journey's to the original - there are obvious differences.
Oh god, no. I am having an off day. You are absolutely right, of course. I'm not paying enough attention, today.
That must have been an exciting discovery! Here's both yours and the original side by side: I don't see enough difference between the two paintings to think it was a separate attempt (all the elements and colors too closely replicated) and the background elements of yours seems ill proportioned. I vote copy. A very time intensive detail oriented copy. Fun!
I bought a Botero at a shop some years ago and it is printed on canvas and, unless you knew better, you'd think it was an original.
