I am having a hard time trying to find any information about this dresser. I have found a lot about the dressers with horizontal pulls, but not vertical. Any leads? Thanks so much!!

In addition to the above information - No. 6055 was made in 1936 and 1937. It's an example of Cushman's true flare for modern. Their fusion of classic Colonial with quirky modernism in the 30s & 40s has made pieces very collectible. All thanks to DeVries, the company's sole designer from 1933-48.

The designs are wonderful - Been a collector for 30 yrs. Construction quality was also above much of the furniture industry. And yes, purist will wince at the refinishing on the dresser and side table above. When ever possible, keep the original finish. Cushman used an 8 part finishing process... staining buffing & waxing. This mid 30's chair was refinished correctly... she's a beauty ! [IMG]

Elegant,it looks like one-off artisan work rather than any sort of factory.Given it's age,I'd doubt much is found in pristine condition.

I found my dresser on Facebook marketplace for $40!!!! I had no idea about the piece until I researched the markings. I love them.

Did all Cushman furniture always have tags?

Yes, all the Colonial Creations line had tags, but they do come off. The furniture was also impressed into the wood CUSHMAN with a model number. In the 1930's they did produce some pieces for other retailers for a shot period of time and these did not have tags.
