Sorry to say that silvercollection.it only has the numerical list up to #215 and the registration dates for the last few are in 1971. The punch shape with the star on the left is post-1970, so you know that much at least.

Thank-you bakers:) I don't suppose it will make much difference in price but thought I would try.

It's always worth a try, but not always worth a lot in the end beyond the satisfaction of knowing. ;)

Ummm, color me confused - but you know it's a Lalex pen, it's marked as such, and '865 NA' was registered to the Lalex Pen Co., Via Francesco Giordano n. 42, Napoli? Can't find an active website, but here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LALEX1938

Wonderful, thanks for this information Cheryl:) It never crossed my mind that the Lalex company would have done the silver work, I thought it would have been done by a silver marker for them. I couldn't find anything on who used the 865 mark which is why I asked the question, sorry for any confusion.

Heh, I'm easily confused these days. Can't seem to find whether they're still in production, find some reference to being out of business in 2009, with the family still holding the company name, they do not seem to be in the registry of current Italian silver manufacturers anymore. The Facebook page seems to be up-to-date though...

    Good morning!
My name is Ana, and I'm new to this Forum :cat:
A couple of years ago I found on a pile of garbage on the street, a Lalex pen exactly the same as the one pictured on the photos above, except for some design details as per the pictures. Same marks and same engraved design. It's compact (10 cm when closed) and no clip. I have some questions about it, because it feels like a "valuable" piece, but I'm not sure if it's indeed. This forum was the only place with pictures and a discussion about the subject that made sense, and it seems you know what you talk about :), so I'd love to ask you for some advice:
    - What do you think it would be it's production date aprox.?
    - Is it solid sterling, or it just has a coating of silver?
    - It works perfectly, so what do you think it would be its value/price? (to be honest, I'm not planning on selling it at all because I think it is a beautiful piece and I love its writing, but I'd love to know more about it...)

As you said it is not entirely clear if the company is still working or not, so any help from you would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much you guys!

Hi Ana, and welcome. The pen case is solid sterling silver, as indicated by the marks. As already mentioned, the Lalex number doesn't show up in the current registry, but since a link to their Facebook page was also posted, more information might be found by contacting them there - as for value, aside from fairly modest intrinsic value, it's basically worth what someone will pay for it, checking what the same model sold for on eBay and other venues should give you an idea...
