Bronze Plaque ?

Here's a small decorative bronze plaque,4 5/8" diameter,nicely done but not of great antiquity (?),no marks.Mostly I'd love to find out what myth or fable might be depicted-any ideas ? @Bronwen

It looks like someone who is sick is about to get some medicine.

 

Here's one in Czechoslovakia that reverse image finding picked up on. I think the seller is comparing it to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.

Note that the person on the right has, in his left hand, what appears to be a tobacco pipe. Perhaps a scene depicting a first exposure experience? He's mopping his face after the inevitable up-chuck! She offers a refreshing cuppa? That's my story, an' I'm stickin' to it!

I don't see any reference to classical mythology or to Biblical stories here. She definitely appears to me making something using a mortar & pestle while he covers his mouth/nose, maybe at the smell?

The plant life behind her is of interest. Does anyone recognize it as a real species? Even though wrong in all sorts of ways, I am being put in mind of poppy pods:



Is she making a medicine? Has he been smoking opium?

My first reaction was that for some reason he was holding a plumb line; I only see a pipe if he is holding it by the bowl with the stem hanging down. Cattails suggest they are near water. Has he been fishing?

Small children engaged in adult activities are liable to be allegorical.

Perhaps. Certainly has that look, but seems terribly specific for what is otherwise a rather fantastical scene. Think there may be artifacts due to casting imperfections.

 

Ohh, it's a pipe alright, but what I want to know is where the kid got that cloth to put over his face....and why the girls butt cheek is hanging out of her garment ????

Apparently there is a companion piece with another scene. I can't figure out what's going on, it doesn't look like smoking a pipe in scene one. And talk about butt cheeks hanging out!

@komokwa It looks like the cloth the boy is holding over his mouth is his shirt.

I agree, pestle and mortar in her hand, he doesn’t like the pong. Bulrushes. And something else, I’m thinking on.
