The age old question Louis or Caroline...

    Here is my find this morning at the good will a beautiful oil on board .I sure its a Louis Anthony Burnett...Him and Caroline were both wonderful artist.My whole opinion on the issue of the names is that over the years the signatures were mixed one of the signatures drops the T in different angle and believe it was louis they both painted around the same time and knew of each other so my thoughts are the dropped T signature is louis [​IMG]

    I never know what to say when people post "Burnett" paintings -- did you have a question about this piece?

    Not at all I don't bother with the quandary I have my thoughts on it..I find and buy things because I like them and love paintings Both Burnett artist value out about the same I love it for the art.I have some art that I might want a answer too like this one that I believe is from the 191 worlds fair.That was done on tent canvas it is signed but its to faded to make it out [​IMG]

    I do not remember seeing that at the 1984 Louisiana World's Exposition. The artwork for that event was masterfully handled. If you are talking about 1991, I don't know what state hosted that?

    Sorry again 1918 is on the on the back the signature is faded but they did use this size banner type paintings and so did carnivals There was the Bronx worlds fair of 1918 for now just making the jump.Till I know better

    I recommend photographing the signature area at high resolution (in natural light, no flash) and posting it here. Sometimes, with manipulation, the computer can see what the human eye cannot.

    Not always, of course. ;)
