Is this worth cleaning up?

Bottom says silver plate with a stamp if like a lion maybe

 

This piece seems to want to fit on but I'm not sure

 

What you have are parts of a cruet or castor set. They probably do fit together, although I can't quite tell from your pictures.

Look up sold ones on eBay for prices. They are hardly ever used nowadays except occasionally in hotels. They are NOT fun to polish, but who knows, yours may be gorgeous! And the odd sterling ones go for rather a lot.

 

They do go together. It's called a "castor frame" intended to hold the glass bottles for a variety of condiments. You absolutely should clean it up - gently of course.

 

Do your best to get a picture of the marking.

 

Does the 2nd one fit into the first? (Love the little bird!)

 

It should (I think) because the footed one has no handle.

 

I would think that it is supposed to, but there is the possiblity that either (or both) got a dent, or a bend.
