I HAVE to get rid of this darn thing - for how much, and is it a settee or a settle?

This sofa is the main reason I haven't used my living room for the last 30 years except on Christmas and birthdays. It's incredibly uncomfortable - it has a piece of plywood under the cushions. Anyways, I've already got another sofa in there, and I'm going to put this one on Craigslist.
I know Brad told me about it on the first thread I ever posted on the bay forums, but I can't remember what he said. I was more concerned that I had a real Stickley chair.
So is this a settee or a settle? How much should I ask for it, considering I just want it gone? DSCN2779b.JPG

I vote settle. Supposed to be a more comfortable version of a wooden bench.

I feel your pain! I also have a critter than in and of itself is rather wonderful -- but I hate it/ Everyone else loves it, but no one wants to buy it. :(

If I had it (and I DO love it!) I would have much thicker cushions on it.

The cushions were much thicker 30 years ago. :hilarious:

    Hi,
It had a wooden frame with lots of tied springs originally. Mine is covered in a horrible print and backwards to boot but it is really very comfortable to sit in. The built in springs is what yours is missing. Otherwise it is a very beautiful piece.

Actually Greg - I had the original frame - it was woven metal straps attached to the frame by coiled springs. It got thrown away 20 years ago by DS#2. For some reason it was in the basement and got caught up in a clean sweep.

    Hi Book,
Shame, it does make the difference between a comfortable seat and an a bench. I would lose the back cushions and plump up the seats and make it one long cushion.

But I want to sell it. What would be reasonable?

    Hi Book,
Since the fall of brown furniture, the price of this stuff has tumbled down and with the missing frame also. Not much, I do not think more than 50 to 100 dollars. With the spring frame perhaps 175. It is a shame, I would love to take it off your hands but with shipping? I have repaired many a spring form like it needs but never started off without one. It may bring more in the Midwest or Pacific Coast but here on the East coast.:arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:

Thanks Johnny. I just want it gone. I didn't want to go too low - people might think something's wrong with it.
I'll put it in at $200.
Oops - I didn't see you greg. I'll put $200 or best offer.

Yes I could use it for that kind of money but would have to find a friend willing to pack it along on a biz trip. Unless you have a near-term trip to the DC area planned and room for it, CL may be best way for you. Thanks.
