Vase or VAHHHZ ?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Thanks to Silver, I have added the word VAHHHZ to my vocabulary, although I can't help spelling it in Spanish.
It weighs about a pound and a half... 9 inches tall, 6 inches top diameter and about 4.5 base diameter. My ol' man says it was a wedding present AT HIS FIRST WEDDING and somehow wound up in his stuff. He received it in about 1975 from a great-aunt who supposedly had a lot of antiques... but to old-school Mexicans, that just means it has lasted over ten years or so.
Any ideas, please? And thanks for looking!

I am envisioning that filled with one, wonderful, pale pink peony. In which case, you may call it a vahse, darling.

That doesn't look like either a vase or a vahhhz to me. There's hardly any room for stems.

Compote? Candy dish? It does look very pretty.

Well, dahlings, I do think it looks more like a compote or candy dish, but needed to practice my new word. ANY INFO or impressions are welcome. :) And I photo'd it on a plain background, like Janet said!

For once granny had it right. My grandmother had a lot of similar items; she got them as wedding gifts in 1921. Alas it's now out of fashion. I'm not sure what it was for either. It would probably end up full of jewelry or used as a cat toy in this house.

Silver explains that only the head, and a wee bit of the peony stem, is needed for the presentation. Very dramatic with crystal or silver candlesticks with pink candles. :)

Oh I don't doubt you for a minute, dahling. It would be a veritable vision!

But what do you do with it the rest of the year?

    Hi,
I have all my gorgeous pieces stored in drawers. All the pieces in my house have glass and china stored in the drawers except one which has silver stored in it. No papers or other such stuff.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Mexicans would use it to hold car-keys to vehicles that won't run anymore.

So we're thinking @1920? No seams, and edges feel sharp... cut glass?

Yep - American cut glass. No idea whodunnit; lots of companies made the same designs.

It looks like it might be one of the McKee Innovation patterns. Might be worth poking around the internet and see if it matches.

    OMG, it *IS*!!!!
I can't find the exact piece (yet) but the pattern is identical... found one just like it except for bowl size... another one just like it but no stem. Thank you!!!! Will keep searching!
