Drawer pulls/hardware store sample board?

    Hi All,

I was going to post in the antiques section but I think this might be more appropriate here since it's furniture related. Quite a few years ago, I purchased what I was told was a store sample board of antique drawer pulls/hardware. That is what this looks like to me, but I really have no clue. The writing on the back looks new to me.

I have never cleaned it (or done anything with it), so the pulls are quite tarnished. Would anyone have any idea if this really is a sample board, and approximately what time period these pulls might be from? Do they look like brass or is is impossible to tell in their current state?

    Thank you for any information!

Could be a store display, or salesman sample board. Would place this circa very late teens into the 1920s.

These would normally be cast brass back then. The swags / garland / wreath and ribbons were popular motifs in the Federal revival style and French Empire revival era. You've got a claw foot table leg cover at the bottom middle.

@verybrad seems to know a lot about old hardware pieces. Maybe he can shed some light on this.

I thought it was pretty cool, too! I guess I need to get to cleaning.

Oh, that's what the claw foot was! I had no idea. I'm still confused at what the swan piece is. Maybe a decoration?

Does look to be a display of samples. Modern type screw attachment puts me in the circa 1920 camp.

Maybe one of the Furniture people can say if it seems likely.
Can you show a profile of the large swan?

Oh, interesting! I can take a photo later tonight. I think the swan neck/head is pretty flat.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Nice sample pulls! Are you going to display them, or sell them? Just curious... I'm not in the market to buy anything like this.

I would like to display them. I started to clean them, and yikes! Getting in the nooks and crannies with metal cleaner is not easy.

No cut - looks like the piece is entirely flat.
