    Yes I can put a thread from one hole to the other hole.I have not tested with hot pin.Perhaps former owner did.

    A real netsuke would not be a tagua nut, but mine from a visit to a museum to see the real thing is. Mine is also signed. I'm glad you brought this up as the OP's looks just like mine in material.
