Hi. It's great to be a new member of this group. My passion is country furniture and folk art and I have been collecting in both these categories for about 30 years. I am happy to participate in any discussions on these topics and to share the knowledge I've gained over many years.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. That particular carving does not strike me as from this continent. Perhaps Central or South America. I can't be sure and it's only a guess on my part. It's very rare to see a wood carving with inset decorative stones although on occasion I have seen pieces where an artist has used them but as I've said, it's an exception.

Thanks so much for posting that link, Shaun! Read the first 2 articles and if I hadn't ripped myself away, I know I could have been there for hours! I'll be back!

    Shaun,
Nice! May I suggest that you make the link part of your "signature", such as the link seen under my posts? (I forget how it is done there are instructions SOMEPLACE on this forum)

It would make finding the link so much easier in the future. I know that I plan to return to it soon................
