    The first one to be put to death would be the maker of the sword!
    I can't imagine any organization would like to be associated to the bird that sits on the pommel... Sure is no eagle to me...
    Especialy in that time, where much attention was given to crisp detail, something I am completly missing here.
    I still stand with my theory of fantasy piece.

    Wowee! It seems u have discovered a major error in the book "The American Fraternal Sword!" It contains photos and descriptions of many other swords with identical pommels bearing identical eagles and states in each case that the sword was an official sword of the fraternal organization named. I am certain the authors would appreciate your input, should u choose to share it with them.
