Neither Monarchist nor Republican here, though raised as both, depending on which side of the family you were with at the moment. We can even lay claim to a Communist, a Socialist and not a few Fascists. Never made no never mind to me, I enjoy living in a Republic, but have had my fair share of Royal garden parties and investitures with titled kin. Since my interests are more sociologically than politically oriented, I'm interested in it all, though I actively support my chosen country of residence and have forsworn citizenship in two of the four countries I had "rights" to. I was only ever interested in the ongoing Orange vs Green kerfuffle form studying the dynamics on family relationships and the economic results thereof. Wrote a paper on it many decades ago when I was up at university, though I must say that it ruffled more than a few feathers at the time as it was shortly after the war and we were still drowning in the results of patriotism and national pride............................

 

Although I'm not Irish, I am Dutch republican. We were the first modern republic and should have stayed that way.
Napoleon made us a kingdom, and a family known for having politicians who put the country and the people first assassinated or "executed" followed in Louis Napoleon's footsteps. (Sorry Mansons, you know I love you.)
Louis Napoleon, btw, was probably the best king we ever had, not like his brother at all.

But being human, so inconsistent, when it comes to my ancestors, I am Madurese/Javanese royalist. And I want my family's elephants back from the Dutch. All of them, armour and all.
