Hello everyone! I have three pieces that I would appreciate some information on:

    1. Brooch-says 830 S ML(?) Silver and enamel. Can you help with maker or origin? Older safety clasp so I think early 1900s?
    2. Brooch- large cameo (2.7"L), is it celluloid? Age?
    3. Necklace- 15"L. Foiled opal glass? What age or origin?

Any additional info would be great. Thank you!:)

@Elen Beattie, looks like you have some NICE! pieces there!!!!! If you haven't cleaned your large Cameo YET, be VERY Careful and ask @Bronwen!!! It looks like she (who is very sweet!) MIGHT be signed on the front at the very bottom of her carving in 3 places!! Not sure if you saw that!!!! I apologize for my 'work' looking so sloppy, I thought there was only one place I saw writing and inverted what I saw, then after, saw 2 more little bits of writing.....all numbered....hopefully they are carved in....I can't tell! But of course @Bronwen is the expert on all things "Cameo"!! I will do better tomorrow if I can, too late for me tonight!!!

These are plastic. First one is in same mount as Ellen's:

    This is shell:

    And this is hardstone:

I have never handled one of these in any medium, but would be wary of cleaning the plastic ones. Think the brown might well come off.

Thank you! Yes definitely plastic, I'd thought celluloid maybe. Is she a little older or more modern?

I recognise the back of the necklace with the pretty pattern but the name escapes me at the moment. I have some earrings with the same pattern and they always use nice glass cabs.

@Elen Beattie (Sorry for "Ellen"ing you before.) Findings are often the best clue to age. Is this what the back of your cameo looks like?

If so, I would say early mid-20th century. By then there were probably materials less flammable than Celluloid 1.0.

No worries! Yes the back does look like that. Thanks for confirming age :)

I recognise the backing too but like you, can't recall where I remember it from!

I keep thinking it’s 1928 ( the company not the year) they were around in the 60’s so it’s feasible.
