Wondered whether some of you good people might like to to take a stab at dating this small (4ft tall) country kitchen cupboard? Nail heads securing planks to top appear irregular, possibly hand wrought? Remnants of brown and blue (possibly two shades of blue, applied at different times, or the same paint in different states of distress) paint. Does the distress to the paint work appear contrived, potentially, as if taken back artificially, at least in places? Door construction looks to be pegged. Knobs appear to be recited from around 6-8 inches above their current location. There’s a spot directly above the place where the doors meet that suggests that the door clasp might have been moved a couple of inches to the right at some point. I know this is a combination of colours often sometimes seen in Georgian furniture. Might it be 1800-1820?
    Thanks in advance.

That's a paint effect, to my eye, it's too considered. Nicely done though. I think the thing itself is early 19th to mid.

Don't know where you are. I'm in Northern CA.

We have a store that imports old European furniture. Some of it they repair and sell. However most of it, they use the wood to remake new furniture, then paint it to look old and distressed. When I saw your piece it made me think of what they do. Looks just like this.

Thank you. Agree with all of that. There are turquoise elements, most visible at the bottom, that seem likley genuine but that cornflower blue feels inauthentic/jarring both in terms of colour and application.

Hello. I'm in the UK. I don't think there's any doubt that the piece is for the most part original in terms of its construction or form but the finish is certainly, at the very least, suspect.

I think the construction is fine for an early 19th ish cupboard. Definitely got at with paint.

Yes, why else would the handles be the least worn?
